Strong Foundations from Day One

  • New Arrivals in the Mainstream Classroom: Strong Foundations from Day One is a professional learning course for Australian teachers supporting newly arrived students learning English as an additional language. The course builds understanding of language development, realistic expectations and effective classroom foundations, with a focus on safety, connection, consistency and high expectations supported by scaffolding.

    • Classroom teachers F-12 with a Newly Arrived Student in their classroom

    • Specialist teachers F-12 with a Newly Arrived Student in their classroom

    • EAL/D Coordinators

    • Coordinators and Leaders with Newly Arrived Students in their cohorts

    • $45+GST

    • This course addresses standard 1.3:Students with diverse linguistic, cultural, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.

    • This is a one hour course including videos, reading and reflection questions.

    • This is an unmoderated and self paced course. Participants will have access to the materials for 30 days from the date they register.

    • A certificate of completion can be provided.
